The global application of industrial manufacturing has historically driven unparalleled societal advancement; however, this progress has frequently come at a severe environmental cost. Today, the scientific community faces an urgent mandate to reconcile industrial productivity with global sustainability. It is with a profound sense of responsibility and ambition that we launch Precision Manufacturing. As managing editor, our vision is to establish this journal not merely as a repository for incremental processing improvements, but as a vanguard for transformative research at the critical nexus of advanced materials, energy systems, and the environment.
To ensure our technological evolution aligns with human survival and ecological balance, this journal is firmly rooted in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDG), specifically targeting Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7), Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9), and Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12). We aim to bridge the vital gap between theoretical precision engineering and scalable, sustainable industrial solutions.
Precision Manufacturing welcomes fundamental and applied research spanning multiple scales (
Table 1). We are particularly interested in methodologies that push the boundaries of high-accuracy, high-reliability manufacturing, clearly emphasizing the strong link between scientific theory and practical engineering applications.
As a premier, peer-reviewed open-access journal, we are committed to the rapid publication of high-impact fundamental research and applied technological advances. To support this mission and ensure the highest standard of scientific rigor, our editorial board currently comprises more than 100 distinguished members from leading academic institutions and industrial research and development sectors. We invite original research articles, reviews, viewpoints, perspectives, and commentaries from academics, researchers, and industrial practitioners globally.

Prof. Qingsong Hua Prof. Hua is a Distinguished Professor at Beijing Normal University. After receiving his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Clausthal University of Technology in 2006, he cultivated extensive academic and industrial expertise across China and Germany. As Co-Editor-in-Chief of Precision Manufacturing, his research focuses on lithium batteries, fuel cells, and their hybrid systems, with a core emphasis on full-chain integrated research and practical engineering applications.
Prof. Terence Liu Prof. Liu is a full Professor in the Faculty of Engineering, Physics and Mathematics at Northumbria University, United Kingdom. He completed his PhD in 2010 through a joint research program between The Open University and the Johnson Matthey Technology Centre, where he also contributed to the catalyst design team. Prior to his current appointment, he completed five years of postdoctoral research at Newcastle University under the guidance of Professors Keith Scott and Paul Christensen. His academic background includes undergraduate studies at Northeastern University, China, and an MEng in Materials Science from Queen Mary, University of London.
